Elizabeth Murray is the Mother of the Day

Today is National Lazy Mom’s Day, so in honor of moms I’d like to share with you a painting that presents the unique perception of a mother.

This painting by American artist Elizabeth Murray (1940-2007) presents the joyous play of children in the artist’s unique style that communicates through the use of color and shape alone. The bright colors have the psychological association of happiness and the juxtaposition of the complementary colors (purple and yellow, green and pink, blue and orange) gives the piece exuberance and energy. It’s the type of joy a mother sees.
